Useful games and links

This term we will not be giving out formal maths homework as our priority is reading and spelling, however it doesn't mean you can't help your child with their maths at home.

FS

Please find any details of how to support your children in Maths on the dedicated EYFS class pages.

Year 1

The best way to help your children with maths at home is by helping them with number facts. It is vital that the children know their number bonds to 10 (all the different ways to make 10 e.g 1 +9 = 10, 7 + 3 = 10). You can also support them by helping them counting up in 2s, 5s 10s and eventually 3s and also by helping them recognise coins. Here are some links to help support that.

Hit The Button

Hit the button is a fun game to teach children their number bonds as well as other number facts such as doubles and halves. It teaches children that as well as solving the question correctly they need to start working out the answers quicker. You can change the difficulty to suit your childs abilty.

Robin Hood Doubles

This game helps children to learn their doubles and halves.

Coins Game

This game will help your child recognise, sort and then eventually count different coins and amounts.

Caterpillar Ordering

This game will teach children how to order and sequence numbers. You can alter the difficulty by changing how great the numbers are in the game. Don't rush onto greater numbers straight away though as it is important that your child is fluent in smaller numbers first.

Year 2

At the moment the best way to help your child with maths at home is by helping them to learn how to tell the time and learn their 2 times tables. Here our some links to some games that will help you do that.

Hickory Dickory Clock

Hickory Dickory Clock is a game to play once your child is a bit more confident telling the time. They need to answer the questions before the mouse gets them.

Class Clock

Class clock is just an online clock to help support your child telling the time. You can view it to tell the actual time or you can use to put your times in yourself to help teach or quiz your child. There is also a button to have the digital clock up at the same time.
